Nirvana Nationals


The Montgomery Model Boat Club (MMBC) is proud to announce that the 1st North American Nirvana Nationals will be held on May 4, 5, & 6, 2012 in beautiful Wynton Blount Cultural Park in Montgomery Alabama.

The name of the event, voted in by the club founders, is "Arrr Sea Pirates Regatta". The pond we will actually use is still undecided, but right now we are leaning toward our normal pond do to it's ease of launch/recovery.

Oak Mts. Hobbies

If you get a chance, check out Oak Mountain Hobbies in Pelham. The have moved to a new location in the same strip mall. Doubled the size of their floor space. Have LARGE selection of stuff.

New Launch Ramp at Aldridge Gardens

This last Saturday, 11/5/11 we started building a launch ramp at Aldridge Gardens. We have most of it finished as you can see in the photo album "The new launch pad". We will build it up as the water level in the Lake rises. Thanks to all who helped with the project, especially Miles Jackson who provided the blocks !

Star Lake

Starting in October, we will be meeting at Star Lake the 5th Saturday oif the month. This will only come around 4 times per year, it will give us a change odf scenery. We will not be leaving Aldridge gardens.

Web Site Problems

I'm having problems with the website. It will not allow new people to registar and join the site. This seems to be a problem with the server. I have contacted them and will try to get this straightened out.



Close encounter of the Goose kind,

Was a rough day for me Saturday. I got my airboat too close to a goose and it attacked my boat. Ripped the motors and props right off the back. Feathers were all over the pond. So now I have a real pretty barge. Luckily there were lots of boaters out Saturday and they helped me retrieve the carcass. Thanks guys! Time to reevaluate whether to fix this one or build a new one that is a little more "Goose Proof".

Another good day at the lake. Will (my stepson) wanted to go out; we generally float on Saturday mornings and Sunday after church. We took two radios (receivers) and four boats -- the Nirvana didn’t get wet, the St. Elme with one speed and one direction, the new salvage boat, and my 15” star.

We put the star out in a light breeze (over stated) she made her way through the pine needle rafts to the middle of the lake barely in time to be-calmed. So we sent out the salvage boat...

Topics to be discussed:



1) Taking up monies from the members to offer a donation to Aldridge Gardens for allowing us to run our boats there.

Aldridge Gardens has asked that we do not make any donations to the Gardens, but use the monies to work on a joint boardwalk/pier project on the lake.

2) To have a one time 'away' meeting at a different location than Aldridge Garden...
