The Montgomery Model Boat Club (MMBC) is proud to announce that the 1st North American Nirvana Nationals will be held on May 4, 5, & 6, 2012 in beautiful Wynton Blount Cultural Park in Montgomery Alabama.
The name of the event, voted in by the club founders, is "Arrr Sea Pirates Regatta". The pond we will actually use is still undecided, but right now we are leaning toward our normal pond do to it's ease of launch/recovery.

This last Saturday, 11/5/11 we started building a launch ramp at Aldridge Gardens. We have most of it finished as you can see in the photo album "The new launch pad". We will build it up as the water level in the Lake rises. Thanks to all who helped with the project, especially Miles Jackson who provided the blocks !

Was a rough day for me Saturday. I got my airboat too close to a goose and it attacked my boat. Ripped the motors and props right off the back. Feathers were all over the pond. So now I have a real pretty barge. Luckily there were lots of boaters out Saturday and they helped me retrieve the carcass. Thanks guys! Time to reevaluate whether to fix this one or build a new one that is a little more "Goose Proof".

Another good day at the lake. Will (my stepson) wanted to go out; we generally float on Saturday mornings and Sunday after church. We took two radios (receivers) and four boats -- the Nirvana didn’t get wet, the St. Elme with one speed and one direction, the new salvage boat, and my 15” star.
We put the star out in a light breeze (over stated) she made her way through the pine needle rafts to the middle of the lake barely in time to be-calmed. So we sent out the salvage boat...Read Full Post »

The results of our meeting, 10/23/10:
Topics to be discussed:
1) Taking up monies from the members to offer a donation to Aldridge Gardens for allowing us to run our boats there.
Aldridge Gardens has asked that we do not make any donations to the Gardens, but use the monies to work on a joint boardwalk/pier project on the lake.
2) To have a one time 'away' meeting at a different location than Aldridge Garden...Read Full Post »
